The Influences of Emulsification Variables on Emulsion Characteristics Prepared through the Phase Inversion Temperature Method as Engine Fuel

The effects of emulsification variables, such as surfactant type and heating/cooling emulsion processes, on the characteristics silicone oil’s emulsions prepared by phase inversion temperature method were investigated in this study. water-in-oil (W/O) have been widely applied to enhance burning efficiency reduce both pollutant emissions fuel consumption. oil was emulsified with de-ionized water assistance nonionic surfactants form oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions. hydrophilic–lipophilic balance (HLB) value Span 80 Tween 20 mixture set equal 10 based their weight proportions respective HLB values two surfactants. experimental results show that 80/Tween appeared a higher larger electrical conductance. On other hand, it has lower stability narrower range than Brij 30 (polyoxyethylene (4) lauryl ether). increase concentration from 1 wt.% decreased conductance while increasing suspensibility absorbance for either or 30.
